was wondering.. is joining klango worth it.
i know it's got a media catelogue, and also a forum, but what else?
and is the forum just like the boards on here?
I think whether or not it's worth it depends on what you want to do and what you want out of it. I like it because although, to me it has less discussion topics, many are technology-related and it seems it is easier to find people who have things in common with your own interests/concerns. There are many different groups you can join depending on your interests, and there are discussions related to that group (for instance a group about video games might have discussions about specific games or anything else related to video games.) I don't know that the forums are like on here; that program and it's website are certainly not arranged the same way, so navigating it is different, and aside from text forums like on here, they also have voice discussions/forums where you can record your questions/comments instead of typing them and listen to the responses.
In addition to the forums, their are also games, audio themes, and other apps/features that you can download to the Klango program to make it even more interesting/entertaining for you. I personally like some of the sound themes, finding and listening to various online music stations and presentations/shows, playing some of the games, and the fact that there is an app to access my Facebook account from Klango. There is also an app for accessing Twitter if you have Twitter, some extra voices, as well as other features you can add to your Klango program.
thanks!
sounds a bit more like an interactive social network type site- i may check it out
hugs
Klango isn't too bad. It has a lot of features, though some of them, don't work that well, or not at all, like the youtube feature for instance. But it's not a bad programme. You can even create a group. I tried using the facebook programme but it wouldn't log in.
it's different then here a bit, definitely different people, there's only a handful of really active members on there different leaders and all the other points already covered.
guess i'll check it out, so many mixed reviews!
i posted this somewhere else and all the responses were no, klango's not worth it, why are you even thinking about it... so i guess the only way to really see for myself, is ti sign up on it
I have a Klango account, yet the thing is not recent. I have yet to log in to it. Klango is worth it, but be alert. The features haven't been updated in quite some time, so always watch the program.
be willing to help much less drama then here in a way and much friendlier community, come hang out with me and the saint haha! those are probably your best contact he's been on there forever, knows everyone.
I go by moongazer by the way
I go by Bassman. I haven't been on sinc October! Holy wow!
I'm Gemimoon82 on there. I've only recently been more active in posting to some of the discussions and am not on all the time but am always willing to make more new friends there. *smile*
Personally, I think the network itself is pretty volatile. It was very close to getting shut down at the beginning of the year, since it's been practically abandoned by the developer. I'm not sure who or what saved it, but be aware that it's probably not going to be around for very much longer.
Many of the radio stations in the catalog are dead links. I haven't really checked out the communities, since when I do, on very rare occasions log in, I just play the games. Oh, the Klango piano program is pretty neat, too.
The uncertainty around Klango is the reason I don't use it any more. If nobody is checking it, how can anybody be sure that viruses aren't being spread across the network?
oh that was teeries little thing, but it turned out to be untrue, some of us knew it was not going to shut down and it was just an awfully nasty rumor. I know for a thing that the main developer keeps up with Arthur and paul. or pisioc. we were going to change up the admin thing but it never happened. and I was getting tired of the nonsense around there and so forth and me and Arthur aren't friends anymore and that was mostly why I stayed, so I left anyway.
Now, wait a minute. Even if it was a rumor that it was going to be shut down, you can't deny that no new content has been added for at least 2 years, nor the fact that the music catalog is a sprawling mess.
That is why I haven't been using the catalogue for at least two years.
Things are slowly breaking, one day it'll simply not work.
I only go on there to read the forums.
If you're a new user thinking of signing up, I wouldn't bother.
At least the zone gets updates from time to time, where as the Klango developers seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
sure maybe, but teery has no right to spread and encourage that rumer, and no one else should never have said or spread it, especially after the fact and it should never be mentioned again now we know it was just a lie, and since it's not true, we know because it's over and after january 4th, it should not be taken seriously as if it was true, and have been posted on here like this! it was a horrible thing to say and now that people know that the original person who decided to utter these words is a terrible, shameful, and completely insensitive liar, it shouldn't be brought up as fact again. I think it's a unbelieveable disgrace after we know what a lie it is someone on here post it as a true fact! it's absurd, indecent, and quite the disrespectful thing to say!
Wow...I shouldn't even waste my time responding to a post like that, but what can I say, maybe I'm a glutton for punishment. Really, it hasn't been shut down, but I haven't seen one drop of effort put in by anyone to make the service better, when updates used to be made at least once a month back when Klango was in its prime. How, exactly, do you want people to determine that? Do you think a rusty old car with weeds growing over it is going to be ready for a drag race tomorrow? Nope, didn't think so. By the same token, Klango isn't winning any program of the year awards in its current state, either.
Though true it isn't in active development any longer, it still has its advantages. Its player software is far quicker and easier to navigate than Zone, and it has many interesting features. Unfortunately, the hostile person who posted the shut down rumor drove many of its most active members away. I think if more people checked it out, and began to use it again, it would become more active. It has nearly as many members as Zone. I agree that spreading an untrue rumor about its shut down was uncalled for. The thing I like best about Klango is its very active international flavor. It has forums and members from around the world using many languages. Even the English forum has many English speaking people from non English speaking countries. There is a built in translation program so you can participate in language forums for languages you do not speak. I am there under the same name as here. It hurts nothing to try it out. I've seen no sign it has been hacked, and virusses cannot be spread if one uses the client software instead of the web interface anyway.
